Edessa and Pozar thermal baths from Thessaloniki: which day trip?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 5 min read
The answer first. For most visitors the Pozar Thermal Baths and Edessa day trip is the one to book. It costs €49.30 per person, lasts 10 hours and has 4.8 stars from 1,545 reviews, which makes it the second most reviewed trip from the city after the Meteora bus tour. If you only want the pools, a 7-hour trip with three hours at Pozar costs €34.20.
What the trips offer
| Tour | Length | From | Rating | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pozar Thermal Baths and Edessa day trip | 10 hours | €49.30 | 4.8 (1,545) | Hot springs, then the ancient city of Edessa |
| Pozar Springs trip with 3 hours of free time | 7 hours | €34.20 | 4.9 (33) | Natural pools, local market, coffee and lunch |
| Vergina Tombs, Agios Nikolaos Park and Edessa Waterfalls | 10 hours | €41.80 | 4.7 (86) | Royal tombs plus Edessa, no thermal baths |
| Private Edessa and Pozar trip | 8 hours | €400 per group of up to 8 | 4.8 (18) | Private day |
What you get
The baths are natural pools at the foot of the Voras mountains, fed by naturally heated water, according to the listing. Edessa is the town the listings pair with it, known for its waterfalls. Both lie to the west of Thessaloniki, so part of the day goes on the road, but a 10-hour day still leaves time for a proper soak and a walk in the town.
The 7-hour trip is built around the pools: three hours of free time at Pozar plus the local market, a drink and lunch. It does not include Edessa. The combination with Vergina swaps the baths for royal tombs, so check the title before you book.
What to bring and check
Bring swimwear, a towel and sandals that can get wet, and confirm on the booking page what the tour supplies. Look under “included” to see whether entry to the baths is covered, and ask how long you get at each stop. A group bus day runs to fixed times, so expect to share the pools.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you dislike crowded pools or outdoor bathing in cold, wet weather: the baths are open-air. If you want a quiet nature walk, this is the wrong format.
Edessa or Pozar alone?
If you have to pick one, the baths are the more unusual experience. The Vergina combination gives you Edessa without the baths, but its main subject is Vergina, covered in our Vergina and Pella guide.
Our recommendation
Book the Pozar Thermal Baths and Edessa day trip for most trips. It has the strongest review record of the four and covers both stops. See all options on the Edessa and Pozar page.
